Problem Statement
In a household, appliances like RO purifiers and ACs generate water that usually gets wasted/drained away. Although some of this water can be reused for non-drinking purposes, people don't collect it because doing it manually is inconvenient. Also, different water sources shouldn't simply be mixed together because they can have different characteristics and suitable uses
Solution
Collect RO water in a separate storage tank and reuse it for the toilet flushing, cleaning, gardening or vehicle washing instead of sending it to the drain
In Detail
The solution is to collect and reuse the RO reject water instead of allowing it to flow directly into the drain. The reject-water outlet of the RO purifier is connected to a separate collection pipe, which carries the water into a covered storage tank. A water-level sensor or float switch monitors the tank and helps prevent overflow. When the stored water is needed, a valve or optional low-voltage pump sends it to the required reuse point. If the tank becomes full, an overflow/bypass pipe safely directs excess water to the drain. The collected RO reject water can then be reused for toilet flushing, floor cleaning, vehicle washing, gardening, and other suitable non-drinking purposes. This reduces freshwater consumption and prevents useful water from being unnecessarily wasted.
