Problem Statement
College campuses face several everyday challenges that affect students' time, convenience, and overall campus experience. Canteens often become overcrowded during breaks, resulting in long queues and wasted time. Lost items are usually reported through informal methods such as WhatsApp groups, making it difficult for students to recover their belongings. Students also lack a centralized platform for important announcements, events, and campus information. Additionally, reporting campus maintenance issues such as broken lights, water leakage, cleanliness problems, damaged furniture, and Wi-Fi issues can be inconvenient and difficult to track. Freshers may also face difficulty locating classrooms, departments, libraries, canteens, and other facilities within the campus. Therefore, there is a need for a centralized digital solution that connects students with essential campus services and helps make the campus more organized, efficient, and convenient.
Solution
A Smart Campus application that simplifies canteen services, lost-and-found, announcements, campus navigation, and issue reporting through one centralized platform.
In Detail
Our solution is a Smart Campus Management and Student Assistance Application designed to solve common problems faced by students within the college campus through a single centralized platform. The first module is the Smart Canteen Module. Students can view the live menu, food prices, and available items directly through the application. They can pre-order their food and select a suitable pickup time slot. A digital token system and order-ready notifications can help students avoid standing in long queues, reducing crowding and saving time during busy breaks. The second module is the Lost and Found System. When a student finds an item on campus, they can take a photo of it and upload it to the application along with details such as the location and time where it was found. Students who have lost an item can browse or search through the uploaded items and submit a claim request. To ensure secure collection, the person claiming the item can provide identifying details or proof of ownership before receiving it. The third module is Campus Announcements and Events. Students can access important college announcements, event details, club activities, holidays, exam notifications, and important deadlines in one place. This reduces the chances of students missing important information and creates a more organized communication system. The fourth module is the Smart Campus Map. It helps students, especially freshers, easily locate classrooms, departments, libraries, canteens, auditoriums, parking areas, restrooms, and other important campus facilities. The fifth module is Campus Issue Reporting. Students can report issues such as broken lights, water leakage, cleanliness problems, damaged furniture, or Wi-Fi issues by uploading a photo and providing the location and description. The issue can then be tracked through different stages such as Reported, In Progress, and Resolved, improving communication between students and the concerned campus authorities. Overall, the Smart Campus application aims to create a more connected, efficient, and student-friendly campus by bringing essential services together in one easy-to-use digital platform.
